Install from the Shopify App Store

Find SMS Reminder in the Shopify App Store and click Install. You will be prompted to connect your SMS Reminder account or create a new one.

Connect your Google Calendar

Authorise SMS Reminder to access your Google Calendar. Appointments booked through Shopify will sync automatically to your connected calendar.

Configure your reminders

Set your message templates, reminder timing, and booking availability in your SMS Reminder account. Reminders will send automatically for every new booking.

Installation guide

Step 1: Install the app

  1. Go to the Shopify App Store and search for SMS Reminder.
  2. Click Install on the SMS Reminder listing.
  3. Review the permissions requested and click Install app to confirm.
  4. You will be redirected to connect or create your SMS Reminder account.

Step 2: Connect your Google Calendar

  1. In your SMS Reminder account, go to Settings > Calendar.
  2. Click Connect Google Calendar and follow the OAuth prompt.
  3. Select the calendar you want to use for appointment bookings.
  4. Appointments booked through your Shopify store will now sync automatically to this calendar.

Step 3: Configure your booking availability

  1. In your SMS Reminder account, go to Settings > Booking Page.
  2. Set your available hours and any blocked dates.
  3. Customise your booking page name and the appointment types you offer.

Step 4: Configure your SMS reminders

  1. Go to Settings > Reminders in your SMS Reminder account.
  2. Set your message template and reminder timing (for example, 24 hours and 1 hour before each appointment).
  3. Reminders will now send automatically for every appointment booked through Shopify.

Step 5: What happens next

When customers book through your Shopify store:

  1. They choose an available time from your booking page.
  2. They confirm their appointment details.
  3. The appointment is added to your Google Calendar.
  4. SMS Reminder sends a confirmation message, followed by reminder messages at your configured lead times.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Shopify App Store account to install this?

Yes. The SMS Reminder Shopify Booking Plugin is installed via the Shopify App Store. You will need to be logged in to your Shopify admin to install and authorise the app.

Is this different from the Shopify embed?

Yes. The Shopify embed adds a booking button to your store using a Custom Liquid block — no app install required. The Shopify Booking Plugin is a dedicated Shopify app installed from the App Store, which provides a more integrated experience. Both connect to your SMS Reminder account and send automatic reminders.

Where are appointments stored?

Appointments are stored in your SMS Reminder account and synced to your connected Google Calendar. You can view all upcoming appointments in your SMS Reminder dashboard.

Are SMS reminders required to use the booking plugin?

No. SMS reminders are optional. The booking plugin works without SMS reminders enabled. You can turn reminders on or off at any time in your SMS Reminder account settings.

Does this work with Shopify Plus?

Yes. The SMS Reminder Shopify Booking Plugin works with both standard Shopify plans and Shopify Plus.
